I cannot believe it’s almost the end of the year. I swear it was only February yesterday! The older I get, the faster the months fly by. Has anyone actually researched that because I swear it’s some weird time-warp thing. Professor Brian Cox, get on it please.
Looking back on the year, here are are some life lessons I learnt:
- You really do get wiser as you get older. As well as more confident. Own it.
- Time goes by so quickly so make the most of every moment.
- Stop taking on so much work! Weekends should be relaxing, not stressful. Yes, even just replying to emails is work, so stop it.
- ‘Relaxing’ means sitting in your PJs until 12. You don’t always have to be doing something.
- You know a lot more than you think you do. Just believe in yourself.
- It all works out in the end.
- Be an amazing wife, friend, daughter and sister but also put yourself first from time to time.
- Insure your valuables! (lesson learnt after losing my engagement ring in the sea).
- Say ‘yes’ more but not if it causes a huge amount of stress.
- You don’t owe anyone anything so don’t feel bad about saying ‘no’.
- Don’t compare yourself to others.
- Surround yourself with the people you aspire to be.
- You can make actual friends with people off the internet.
- Accept that you are also an ‘inspiration’ to someone, even if it makes you cringe.
- When things feel overwhelming, break it down in to manageable steps and take one step at a time.
- ‘To do’ lists are amazing.
- Goals are great but don’t let them define you.
- Have more spa days. Or any sort of ‘me time’ treat.
- Look at your phone less. Look up more.
- Seek out good books and read more.
- Say ‘I love you’ every day. To someone you love, not some random stranger, obviously.
