Ten happy things – March 21

Mixed mini brownies

Every month I pause and look back on the month that’s past and choose ten things that made me happy. I think it’s important to acknowledge moments of joy, particularly as we’ve been living in a pandemic for a year now. March was a very busy month with work and I had moments of feeling overwhelmed, but I’m grateful for the work I do have as I’m freelance – so being busy is always a good thing! Here’s ten things that made me happy and brought me joy in March – including winning a competition where the prize was a Tropic cleansing body bar!

I guest hosted a podcast

I was honoured to be asked to be the first guest host for CharityComms new podcast series all about wellbeing! I spoke with three guests working in charities in the UK and they shared how their organisations are putting mental health and wellbeing front and centre. They also shared practical tips on working from home and getting that work/life balance right. It’s such a great episode, if I do say so myself!

Delicious gifted brownies from Cutter & Squidge

I was very lucky to be gifted some very yummy brownies from Cutter & Squidge. I was sent the mixed mini brownie box which consisted of 12 mini brownies in 6 flavours. I loved each one but my favourites were the peanut butter fudge and the chocolate Nutella – so good! They make such a great gift as you can get the brownies delivered to friends who are celebrating a birthday, anniversary, new job etc and they fit in the post box! Big thanks to Cutter & Squidge for the tasty treats!

I won a Tropic pebble!

I woke up one weekend to a Facebook notification from Lauretta to say I’d won a Tropic pebble! I’ve been using Tropic products for a few months now but I’d never ordered a pebble, which is a cleansing body bar. They come in a variety of gorgeous scents and I just couldn’t choose one so asked Lauretta to surprise me. She chose the citrus one for me and it smells DIVINE. Think I’ll be adding these to my next order- especially as they make lovely gifts!

Spring blossoms are everywhere

I love this time of the year! London just looks so beautiful when all the trees blossom. When I go on my daily walk, I love to stop and take photos of all the beautiful trees – especially the cherry blossoms as they’re my favourite. I just wish they lasted longer though!

WhatsApp chats with good friends

I was having a particularly bad day and then had a two hour call with my best friends in South Africa and instantly felt better. There’s nothing like having a chat and a good laugh with old friends (by ‘old’, I mean we’ve known each other since high school!). Talking to them both is always a joy.

Gorgeous felt succulents

My crafty friend Sharon posted some of her latest handiwork on her Instagram account, Hoop Hoop Hooray, and I fell in love with these felt succulents so I bought them. I just adore the colours and the best thing is, I can’t kill them!

Working with a friend on a new project

I’m really excited to be working with Madeleine, a fellow freelancer and friend on a social media strategy for a charity. I’ve been wanting to work with Madeleine on a project for ages and then one presented itself. It’s such an interesting charity and project so I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in!

Summer vibes with linguine vongole

Whenever we visit the south of Italy we have to order spaghetti or linguine vongole – it’s tradition! As the weather was improving, I suggested one Saturday to have linguine vongole for lunch. Off I went to the local fishmonger to get some fresh clams and then my husband made a delicious linguine vongole! How beautiful does it look? Like Summer on a plate.

A new kettle and toaster

Can you tell I’m clutching at straws to find things that made me happy in March when I include a toaster and kettle in my list! We’d had our old toaster and kettle for 15 years and although they still worked, I just really wanted new ones. I will be recycling the old ones, of course. I chose matching green ones from Morphy Richards as they match my green KitchenAid. I love them!

Churros from Portobello Road

One Saturday, after lunch, we went for a walk up to Notting Hill. Just as I was craving something sweet, I spotted the Churros Garcia stall and of course had to buy some. I can’t remember the last time I had churros! They had just been freshly made and were so yum – a real treat.

So that was my March. I can’t wait for April as I can finally go to the hairdresser and the gym! And non-essential shops can open – yay! I can’t wait. So what made you happy in March and what are you looking forward to in April?

Wowsers – they are some great things here to be happy about – I totally get why you make this list – and of course to be grateful too. I love your new succulent your talented friend Sharon made and that kettle & toaster set is lovely! And of course I love the pebbles – let me know how you get on with it – the pebbles can also be used as a shampoo bar and are great for pre-shaving – just in time for some nice warm weather hopefully! xx

Thanks Lauretta! I love doing these posts as it reminds me to pause and be grateful for even the small things. Really looking forward to trying my pebble! Thanks again
