Ten happy things – March 18

10 happy things March 2018

In this monthly blog post, I look back and choose ten things that made me happy and that I’m thankful for. Here are my Ten Happy Things for March.

Getting my ski on

I’ve never skied before but always wanted to so when I was invited along to Chel-ski by Club Med to giving skiing a go, I jumped at the chance. But was it for me?

I, Tonya

Earlier in the month I found myself with an unexpected day off – as a freelancer, this doesn’t happen very often so when it does I try to make the most of it. I had been wanting to see I, Tonya so off I went to the cinema to watch it and boy, was it good! I was a figure skater when I was younger so it really took me back to those days and I even remember when the Harding/Kerrigan incident happened. When I got home I watched the original interviews on YouTube. I was hooked!

A weekend in York

As part of my birthday present, my husband took me to York for the weekend. We were meant to have gone at the beginning of the month but sadly the Beast from the East scuppered those plans so we went towards the end of March. We stayed at the stunning Grays Court Hotel, which is over 1,000 years old! York is such a beautiful, historic city and we really enjoyed walking around and seeing the sights, such as Clifford’s Tower.

Lunch with my bestie

My best friend Shelley celebrates her birthday exactly a month after mine so my husband and I met up with her on St Patrick’s Day (not her actual birthday) for Cava and Croquettas at Pizzaro in Broadgate Circle followed by lunch at Comptoir Libanais. Shelley and I then tried to go to an exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery but sadly got there after the last admission! We did get to see the changing of the guard in the snow though, which was pretty cool (and freezing!).

Training at Twitter

For my day job I got to deliver training on Content Marketing, on behalf of Media Trust, at Twitter’s HQ. I’ve been to Twitter a couple of times for events and it’s still such a novelty going there. They have a coffee machine that’s controlled by an iPad!

My friend had a baby

In last month’s ‘Ten happy things’ I went to my friend Holly’s baby shower at Gallery Mess at the Saatchi Gallery. Well, this month Holly and her family welcomed a beautiful, healthy baby girl into their family! I can’t wait to meet her.

Blogger dinner at Abd el Wahab

I was invited along to an influencer dinner at Lebanese restaurant Abd el Wahab in Belgravia. We were treated to an absolute feast, with a stunner of a dessert to finish.

Gym is paying off

Last month I blogged about how I’m never dieting again  and instead was upping my trips to the gym and trying to eat more sensibly. A month and a half on and I can definitely see the effects of going more often to the gym and including weights in my workouts. I feel more toned and definitely fitter – I did a boot camp class recently and kicked ass! Go me.

Breakfast at Dishoom

So last month I finally visited Dishoom (I know, right?!) and was so impressed with the food, I immediately plotted my return. This month I returned to a different branch for breakfast with my lovely friend and ex-colleague Isabel. I had the Egg and Bacon Naan and IT WAS SO GOOD.

Easter in Rome

We spent the Easter weekend in Rome and it was very busy amazing! Rome is just one of those cities that blows you away with its ancient buildings and ruins – it really is the Eternal City. Check out my post on 30 things to see and do in Rome. Plus, I just want to highlight two fabulous restaurants – Perpetual  and Fernanda Osteria. We had amazing meals at those two restaurants and I’d highly recommend them if you’re looking for something more modern and a bit more upmarket.

So that was my March and ten happy things that I’m grateful for. How was your month?
