Glimpse Hotel in Florence: a review

Florence duomo

Florence is probably one of the most beautiful cities I’ve had the pleasure of visiting. The first time we visited it was to celebrate my birthday and we stayed at the stunning Four Seasons Hotel Firenze – which is a former 15th century palace. The second time we visited Florence, we were coming back from a holiday in beautiful Siena and only staying one night. We wanted somewhere central to stay that was also stylish and high end. We found that in Glimpse Hotel.

We paid for our room and this is an honest review of Glimpse Hotel. This post does contain affiliate links, however, which may earn me a small commission at no cost to you.

The location

You couldn’t really ask for a better location for a hotel in Florence. Glimpse Hotel is located a mere 400m from the magnificent Duomo. We walked to Piazza del Duomo di Firenze in less than 5 minutes! The hotel’s central location means that you can walk to all the famous sites, such as the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio, with no need for taxis or public transport.

Getting to Glimpse Hotel from Florence Airport

When we arrived at Glimpse Hotel we had a hire car and we only stopped to check in and drop off our luggage before returning the car. If you have a hire car, you will need to contact the hotel to give them the license plate number as entry into the centre of Florence is restricted and you’ll face a hefty fine if you don’t have permission to enter. They will also let you know where you can park close to the hotel as they don’t have onsite parking.

At check-out, the hotel had organised a taxi for us to the airport. It took about 15 – 20 minutes to get to the airport from Glimpse Hotel, as it’s only 4km away, and cost around €25. There is also a regular airport shuttle tram that runs every 5 to 10 minutes from the city centre to the airport and costs €1.50 per person. It takes around 20 minutes.

The hotel

When we checked into Glimpse Hotel my nerves were fried as we’d been driving around the city centre and being taken on diversions because of road works – it was stressful! So the welcome glass of Prosecco was very much appreciated – and definitely needed!

My first impression of Glimpse Hotel was that it was very modern and stylish. It’s on the small side, with the bar, dining area and reception all on the first floor. They also have an outdoor dining area, which I’m sure in the warmer months is really lovely.

They have four different room options, ranging from a Standard King room to a Deluxe Suite. We booked a Superior King room, which was spacious at 291 ft².

The room is tastefully decorated with natural light coming from the large window. There was also a bag of Italian biscuits left for us in the room, which was a welcome touch. The bed was huge, very comfy and the linen was high quality. The room is air conditioned and they have streaming services such as Netflix – perfect for those of us who don’t speak Italian!

There was a lot of wardrobe space, as well as space to put our luggage. They also had tea and coffee making facilities and bottled water. I liked how there was a ‘Florence art theme’ with the decor.

Decor in the hotel room

The bathroom was large with a big Jacuzzi bath and built in shower, with a marble effect design. It looked very luxurious! And they provided slippers too, which I personally love from a hotel room.

We had breakfast included with our room and could choose from a continental or American style breakfast. Honestly, there was so much on offer that we probably wouldn’t even have needed lunch! But we just wanted something simple, like a croissant with jam – which they were happy to provide. And the coffee was excellent!

What we loved about Glimpse Hotel

Apart from the location and the hotel being stylish and modern – the staff were absolutely lovely. Super friendly and happy to help with any request. We would definitely stay at Glimpse Hotel again, the next time we’re in Florence.
