Can you believe I’ve never been to a bottomless brunch? So when I was invited to review the bottomless brunch at Galvin HOP I was excited to say the least. Unlimited prosecco for just £10? BARGAIN. And if prosecco is not your thing, you can have draft Pilsner or Bloody Marys instead.
Our table was booked for 2:30 so we opted for the lunch dishes over the brunch dishes. It was absolutely buzzing and every table was taken so definitely book if you want to go. It was also quite loud so probably not the best place for a quiet catch up with a friend or a romantic meal for two but definitely the ideal venue for catching up with friends – over unlimited prosecco! The restaurant has a glass ceiling so there is lots of natural light. There are also two outside terraces with heaters when it’s a bit on the chilly side.
The starters
I went for the salt & pepper squid with an Asian salad as my starter and my husband ordered the Galvin Caesar salad with smoked chicken. As draft Pilsner is one of the unlimited drink options, the chefs have specially created dishes that go well with beer – my salad being one of them. However, it goes pretty well with prosecco too I have to say! The flavours were really good and the squid was perfectly cooked.
My husband enjoyed his Caesar salad although I think regretted not ordering the crisp jumbo chicken wings. However, luckily he didn’t because he wouldn’t have had space for his main course, which was huge! The Caesar salad normally comes with a poached egg on top but my husband only likes his eggs scrambled so asked for no egg.
The main attraction
As beach season is coming up, I’m TRYING to be good so I chose the Day boat fish of the day with watercress and crisps. It’s not really a looker (I’m sure you’ll agree) but it was delicious. The crisps were perfectly crunchy and I liked how the lemon had been put on the grill so that it was easier to squeeze over the fish.
My husband ordered the Galvin Deluxe burger with cheese and a deep fried pickle. He hates pickle and I LOVE pickle so lucky me, I got to eat it. It was so decadent and, well….so much for the diet.
The burger came with chunky chips which were crispy on the outside and lovely and soft inside – obviously I had to try one (or two) in the interests of writing this review…
My husband was asked how he likes his burger cooked and he chose ‘pink’. It could still have been a bit pinker, for his liking, but it was juicy and tasty. I had a bite (of course) and thought it was really flavourful.
We saw lots of people ordering the salted caramel doughnut for dessert and they looked so decadent but we were so full, we had to resist.
The verdict
We enjoyed our bottomless brunch very much and the service was excellent – very attentive. And you never had to ask for a prosecco top-up, which is a good thing! If you’re looking for a place to catch up with friends, where the prosecco is flowing and the food is yummy and reasonably priced, then book a table for the bottomless brunch at Galvin HOP.
Our meal was complimentary in exchange for an honest review.
