It’s not even 2018 yet but already I’m thinking about what places I’d like to visit next year! When it comes to planning in advance, I have to say that we’re not that great at it. Usually we leave deciding -and then booking – to about a month in advance. Not ideal… so, in 2018, I really do want to get better at being organised.
What’s on my 2018 travel list?
Boston, Massachusetts
We’re kicking off the new year in Boston, which I’m super excited about! I’ve heard such great things about the city and I can’t wait to explore a US city (and state) I’ve not been to before. We’ve also got tickets to see Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker, which will be fabulous.
Siena, Italy
My husband always gives me a long weekend away as part of my birthday present and he’s already let the cat out of the bag that we’re going to Siena! I have wanted to go for years to this medieval Tuscan city, which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Seville, Spain
We always go away for the Easter weekend and this year I have my sights set on Seville. Spain is not a country I’ve explored that much – I’ve only been to Barcelona, Madrid and San Sebastian – so I’d love to add another Spanish city to my travel list.
Santorini, Greece
I’ve never been to Greece so I’d love 2018 to be the year I get to go, and first on my list is the beautiful Santorini, which is actually a group of islands. Just imagine how stunning my Instagram feed would look…
Positano, Italy
We absolutely love the Amalfi coast and we’ve been to Positano many times over the years, however, we haven’t been back for about 4 years so it’s definitely time to return. There is nothing better than hiring a Vespa and driving along the coast, exploring Sorrento, Ravello and Amalfi and stopping for a swim along the way or a bite to eat. I can’t wait.
Sri Lanka
We were so close to visiting Sri Lanka this year as we were looking for somewhere to combine with the Maldives but we left it too late to research properly… so we went with Bangkok instead. I’m putting Sri Lanka back on the list for 2018! It just looks like such a diverse country – from beaches to forests. And I’ve heard the train journeys are pretty epic. A couple of people I know have been to Sri Lanka this year and their photos have seriously inspired me to visit.
Cape Town, South Africa
I’m missing my home country so I think a visit to the Motherland is definitely in order. We absolutely adore Cape Town but we like to combine it with the winelands. For 2018, I’d like to include a safari too because, why not? I haven’t been on a safari since 2006 so it’s about time we organised another one!
Anywhere in the UK
This year we were really bad at weekends away so we’re definitely planning more weekend breaks in the UK. They are perfect to help recharge your batteries and I love visiting towns and places I’ve not been to. So, a few on my list are: Leeds, Manchester, Bristol, Exeter and anywhere in Wales!
