A little bit of luxury with Airportr

Airportr luggage service

Last month we travelled to Tropea in Calabria in the evening and I was delivering a training course that day. I had to lug two suitcases across London, battling stairs at tube stations and it was a nightmare! So when we were travelling to Naples (en route to Ischia and then Capri) and I needed to go in to work that day, I was dreading a repeat of the experience. But then I spotted a promoted tweet from Airportr and contacted them to trial and review their service.

Airportr is a concierge-style luggage transfer service that will pick up your bags from either your home or hotel and deliver them to the airport so that you have the freedom to move around without luggage. It’s perfect for those needing to go to work or a meeting or for tourists who have lots of time in London before their flight but have nowhere to leave their luggage.

The booking process was very easy and the cost to have our bags collected in central London and transported to Gatwick’s North Terminal was £40. It was £35 for the first bag and then £5 per bag after that. I was slightly nervous only because we were getting a ferry early the next morning from Naples to Ischia so, if for any reason our bags didn’t make it on time it would have been a bit of an issue. As part of the booking process, I got to choose my pick up slot and say when I needed the bags to be at the airport. I read lots of reviews of their service and did not spot one that said they had issues with their luggage not arriving in time for their flight so that gave me confidence! In fact, they have a Feefo service rating of 5 stars from over 400 reviews.

I opted to have my bags collected between 6:30 and 8am and the driver, Max, arrived at around 6:40am. He was absolutely lovely – very friendly and professional and he made sure our luggage was secured with tamper-proof seals (this is so that you are assured that no-one has been able to put anything into your luggage) and that our labels were secured. I then received a text shortly after to confirm that my luggage had been collected and was en-route to Gatwick.

I then left at around 8am to go to work completely luggage free, which was wonderful! I was able to login and track where our bags were, however I also received a text to let me know when they had arrived at the airport. Within this text is a link for you to let them know when you are close by so that they can have the luggage waiting for you when you arrive.

We arrived at Gatwick North terminal and found the Airport desk very easily. As promised, our luggage was waiting and the security tags and labels were removed in front of us.

It made such a difference not to have to travel in London in peak travel time with luggage. The process was easy from start to finish and the service was excellent. I would certainly recommend using Airportr and I will definitely be using it again!

Our luggage transfer was complimentary in exchange for an honest review.

Never heard of that kind of service. But what a relief if you want to visit a city and you don’t know what to do with your bags! Great!

      Definitely, Anouk!

  • Sounds like a great service, especially when there are several hours to spend. I’ll keep this in mind for future trips.

This is awesome, such a great idea! I wonder if it’s available in a lot of cities- I guess I’ll have to go check out their site. I can think of a million times when this would have been useful in Prague 🙂
