Six great places to eat in Miami

Places to eat in Miami

We visited Miami in October (here are five fun things to do in Miami) and these were our favourite places to eat. In no particular order:

1. Yardbird

Yardbird is a Southern bar and restaurant when chicken is the star of the show. We enjoyed it so much, we went twice. Good value for money, excellent service and a great ambiance – Yardbird should definitely be on your list. Situated in Miami Beach, close to Lincoln Mall.

2.  Sushi Samba

We had lunch one day at Sushi Samba, and unlike London, did not need to book in advance. The sushi is so fresh and the menu expansive so there’s something for everyone. It’s situated on Lincoln Mall so great for people watching if you get an outside table.

3. Bianca

Bianca is a lovely Italian restaurant situated in the Delano hotel on South Beach. Request a table on the terrace for al fresco dining and enjoy the great food and excellent service. We had a cocktail pre-dinner in the gorgeous Rose Bar and after dinner went for a stroll around the pool area.

4. Hakkasan

Situated in the famous Fontainebleau Hotel, which is one of Miami’s most architecturally significant hotels. It was designed by Morris Lapidus and opened in 1954. But enough about the hotel… Hakkasan is as you would expect (if you’ve been to any of the others) – achingly cool and trendy. The food was delicious and the service was very efficient. Expect a hefty bill though.

5.  La Mar by Gaston Acurio

La Mar is a Peruvian restaurant in the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Brickell Key with amazing views over the Miami skyline. The food is exquisite and the Peruvian flavours so fresh and, well, different (how often do you have Peruvian food?). After lunch or dinner, be sure to take a stroll around Brickell Key.

6. Front Porch Cafe

If you’re looking for a fairly inexpensive, hearty breakfast then the Front Porch Cafe on Ocean Drive is your place. It’s super popular though so expect to wait for a table but it’s worth the wait. The eggs, bacon, toast, orange juice and unlimited coffee for around $13 is a steal.
