Every month I like to look back at the month just past and choose ten things that made me happy. I really like doing this as it helps me to be reflective and reminds me to be grateful. Here are my ten happy things for March.
A spa day at Espa Life at Corinthia
For Christmas, one of my presents from my husband was a spa day at the Corinthia Hotel in London. I LOVE a spa day! I was so busy though that March was the earliest month I could go so when I did go, it was much needed as I needed just a day to relax. I’d not been to this spa before but I was really impressed. It’s a lovely space with fabulous facilities. My favourite was the large jacuzzi-like pool. Even the changing rooms were swish with heated loungers and a fireplace.
Dinner with a friend from school
I was in Bristol for work twice in March and both times I got to have dinner with a friend from school. I last saw Angelique about 8 years ago so we had loads to catch up on! It was so nice to see her and talk about school days as well as what we’re up to now. Both of us run our own businesses and we have lots in common. On the second visit we went to Thali in Clifton and the food was amazing! Lovely restaurant too with great decor.
Hosting an event
In March I was asked by Raw London to MC an event as well as chair a panel discussion. The event was attended by around 100 of my peers and I was a bit nervous but it went really well. I’m proud of myself for stepping out of my comfort zone! If you’re interested in how customer experience can transform charity communications, read the event summary here.
An evening with Parmigiano Reggiano
A couple of weeks ago I was invited to attend a cocktail making class and a three course Parmesan-inspired meal with Parmigiano Reggiano. It was such a fun evening and the food by chef Luke Mackay was absolutely delicious! You can read more about the event here.
A weekend in Bristol
As mentioned, I had to travel up to Bristol twice for work and both times I was there over a Thursday and Friday. So on the last of the two trips, my husband travelled up from London and we stayed the weekend. Bristol is just a lovely city! We had a great time exploring it – hunting for Banksy’s, taking a boat ride around the harbour, walking around Clifton Village and going to see the Clifton Suspension Bridge. We were so lucky with the weather too – it was fabulous.
Gifted a towel ladder
Being a blogger means that I sometimes get gifted items. In March I was gifted* a towel ladder from VonHaus, which I’ve wanted for ages! I think it looks super stylish in our bathroom.
Lunch with a friend and a belated birthday gift
As we were both working in the same area, I met my lovely friend Kaye for lunch at Market Hall Victoria, which has eleven restaurants and bars over three floors. As it was my birthday in February, Kaye gave me a present. I love receiving belated birthday gifts! The gift bag was covered in glitter though and I forgot and got it all over my black coat!
Two friends had babies!
Not one but two of my friends had babies in March. Welcome to the world Edgar and Scout! Edgar lives here in London and I’m off to meet him (and his mum, of course) soon. Scout lives in New York with her parents so not sure when I’d meet her but they’ve posted lots of pics and she’s gorgeous!
Discovered a new Italian restaurant
If you’re regular readers, you’ll know how much we love our Italian lunches on Saturdays! I was just looking up Italian restaurants online and came across Via Emilia in Hoxton Square. They serve food from my husband’s region and the reviews looked good so we went for lunch. It was good! We’ll definitely be back.
Discovered Alfie’s Antiques
I’d been working at a social enterprise since January and it was my last day towards the end of March so I was delivering training to the team before I left. We’d gone to one of their nurseries in Marylebone and went to Alfie’s Rooftop Kitchen for lunch, which is above Alfie’s Antique Market. I’d never heard of it yet I live only 15 minutes away! That’s what I love about London – how you’re always discovering new places. I can’t wait to go back because there were so many fabulous shops in the market. Plus, the food was great!
So that was my jam-packed March! How did your month go?
