The Park Hyatt Bangkok – an oasis in the city

Bangkok is such a hectic, busy, crowded city so we were looking for a hotel that would offer an oasis within the city. Somewhere to relax by a pool after exploring all day, that would be quiet and tranquil. We found it in the newly opened Park Hyatt Bangkok. Designed by architects AL_A, the building is set to become an iconic landmark in the city.

With its central location – only two stops on the Skytrain from Siam – it’s the perfect location. The hotel is situated in the Central Embassy, which is a luxury shopping centre with lots of places to eat and shop and there’s also a cinema. Access to the hotel is either from street level on the ground floor or from the 6th floor where you’ll find a fabulous bookshop, co-working space and open plan eateries, called The Openhouse.

The Park Hyatt is very modern and fairly minimalist in its decor. If you’re an art fan, you’ll love the various art works dotted around. The hotel is designed to feel like a private residence so you’ll find spaces such as the library and the lounge that reflects this.

We checked in and were shown to our room on the 23rd floor where we were delighted to find a beautiful, clean, spacious room with floor to ceiling glass – giving us lots of natural light but also a fabulous view.

When we saw the bathroom we were delighted! Just look at that view! And of course at night it was even better.

I do love twin basins so that we can each have our own. Is it necessary? No… but it does add that little extra touch of luxury. There was also a wide range of Le Labo toiletries and big, fluffy towels and dressing gowns. For me, bathrooms are often the best part of a hotel room and this bathroom is definitely one of the most luxurious. 

The room was equipped with all the mod cons such as being able to control the lighting and blinds from next to your bed. The mini bar had complimentary tea, coffee and water and there was a desk too with usb charging points. I wish more hotels would offer usb charging points as they are so handy. There was also a walk-in wardrobe, which you could slide a door across so as not to see messy suitcases (ours are always messy).

I must confess that when we were looking at hotels in Bangkok, one of the criteria we judged them on was their pool. I can safely say that the infinity pool at the Park Hyatt is just spectacular. The view is fabulous and I loved how they brought us complimentary smoothies too.

For me, being able to enjoy the spa facilities at a hotel is a big plus. Whilst I didn’t have any treatments, I made use of the Jacuzzi.  The sauna, steam-room and Jacuzzi are accessed via the changing room and are same sex. When I went, I had the facilities all to myself – it was bliss!

The hotel has a restaurant, bar and rooftop terrace on the 36th floor, called the Penthouse Bar and grill. We had dinner there on our last night as we had an early flight the next morning to the Maldives. The views are fabulous, the food was delicious and the service was excellent. Sometimes there’s nothing better than having dinner and then only having to get in a lift to go to bed!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Park Hyatt Bangkok and would definitely stay here again the next time we’re in the city.
