Affordable luxury at Corinthia Hotel Lisbon

A luxury stay at Corinthia Hotel Lisbon

Our travel style is definitely 5 star, or 4 star if there are no 5 star hotels! For me, the hotel I’m staying in absolutely influences my overall holiday experience. There is nothing better than staying in a hotel where your room is spacious, clean and inviting and the hotel itself oozes class and elegance. That’s what we found when we stayed at the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon over the Easter weekend.

We originally booked a Junior Suite but around two days before our weekend break, the hotel emailed with an offer to upgrade to an Executive Junior Suite, which we took up. For an extra €42.50 per night this gave us access to the Executive Club and included breakfast.

As soon as we arrived we realised the location is not great, which is why you get so much more for your money. However the metro station is across the road and takes about 10 minutes to get to the centre so after our initial disappointment with the location, we didn’t mind at all that it’s not in the centre.

The outside of the hotel is not very pretty, hence no picture, however the minute you step inside you are impressed with its elegance. Check-in and check-out was faultless and throughout our stay the staff were extremely professional, warm and friendly.

Although we upgraded to a Junior Executive Suite the hotel upgraded us again to an Executive Suite, which is an impressive 58 m². There were Pastel de nata waiting for us on the dining room table, which is always a lovely touch. There were four but my husband scoffed one before I could take a picture!

The room had a separate lounge area, with a desk as well as a dining room table. There were also a variety of magazines to read.

There is free wifi throughout the hotel and I experienced no connectivity issues with it at all during our stay. I loved how wifi was free for all guests as nothing annoys me more than having to pay extra for wifi in 2017.

The bed was large and comfy and there was complimentary water – both still and sparkling – left next to the bed after the turnover service.

The bathroom had a separate bath and shower and luxury ESPA toiletries, with complimentary slippers and dressing gowns to wear during our stay. There was also a separate toilet off the lounge area.

As we were staying in an Executive Suite we had access to the Executive Club on the 24th floor where we could have breakfast in the Sky Lounge, use their computers, book a meeting room and have complimentary drinks and snacks throughout the day and evening. There is a dedicated reception desk where you can check-in and out and had concierge services available.

Executive Club facilities

The hotel has 518 rooms and suites, of which 76 are Executive Club rooms. In terms of dining options, breakfast is served in Sete Colinas, which has outdoor tables (Executive Club room guests may eat here or in the Sky Lounge), Tipico showcases Portuguese cooking and there is the Tempus Lounge and Terrace Lounge for tea, light snacks or cocktails.

Guests may use the spa and fitness facilities, situated on the second floor. The gym is open 24/7 and the swimming pool is open from 7am to 9pm and a swimming cap is required (they sell them if needed). Note though that the pool is more for leisure rather than for exercise, which I found out when I wanted to do lengths – it was impossible.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Corinthia Hotel Lisbon and would most certainly stay again the next time we are in Lisbon – which I hope will be soon as I loved this fabulous city!
