Ten happy things – June 18

Ten happy things for June 18

In this monthly blog post, I look back on the month past and choose ten things that made me happy and that I’m thankful for. Here are my Ten Happy Things for June.

Consistent work

I’m approaching three years of freelancing! I can’t quite believe it. I’m very thankful for having had pretty much consistent work since I went freelance as well as a couple of regular clients. Long may it continue! If you’re thinking of taking the plunge, or have found yourself in a situation where freelancing has been thrust upon you, read my ten freelancing tips.

Reliving my childhood

I didn’t grow up in the UK but I did grow up by the sea and I remember, fondly, the rides and arcade games we had on the beachfront so when I went to Dreamland in Margate, it felt like being a kid again! They have a wooden rollercoaster that is much scarier than it looks… my favourite ride though was Born Slippy, the giant slides. Such fun!

Celebrating small charities

It was Small Charity Week towards the end of June and it was amazing to see small charities getting the love and recognition that they deserve. As a trustee of the Small Charities Coalition I am passionate about small charities being valued, having a seat at the table and being recognised for the vital work that they do in their local communities.

Dinner with the girls

I’ve only ever lived in one house share when I was in my twenties and I met the best girls! We’re still all great friends and try to see each other regularly, although two now live in Dorest. So it was lovely to have them all over for dinner and a catch-up. Drinks and laughter aplenty!

Celebrating 5 years married

My husband and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! I can’t believe how quickly the five years have gone… I remember our beautiful wedding in Bologna like it was just yesterday. Funny enough it was really hot on our anniversary, like it was on our wedding day. My mom had to keep putting sun cream on me!

Exploring Margate

My friend Shelley and I took ourselves off to Margate for an evening and had a fabulous time. What a lovely British seaside town – I loved it. I want to take my husband next.

Doing work experience

You’re never too old to learn. I really wanted to expand my copywriting experience so I spent a week with my agency friends at Open. Find out how my week went on their blog.

First (sea) swim of the year

Towards the end of June we spent five nights in gorgeous Taormina in Sicily. It’s the third time we’ve been and we love it. Can you see why? That first swim in the sea is always the best! Although it was a bit chilly…. if you’d like to go, I highly recommend these 10 essentials.

Eating all the pasta!

When in Italy… eat pasta! I ate pasta every day when we were away. I was good and stuck to pasta once a day whereas my husband ate it for both lunch and dinner! My favourite from this trip was the Pasta con le sarde from Vineria Modi. DELICIOUS.

Gelato in Italy

Hands down, Italians make the best gelato in the world. This one was pistachio with Fior di latte and it was so cool watching them make it so it swirled with the different flavours. And it was SO DAMN GOOD.

So those are my ten happy things for June! How was your month?
